Warner Avenue to Goldenwest Street, Huntington Beach
Project Background
The Project channel reach is currently an earthen trapezoidal leveed section originally designed to convey 65% of the 25-year storm. The Project consists of a series of design elements necessary for the channel reach to meet current design criteria to convey a 100-year storm event, as well as meet federal requirements for national flood insurance.
The project design includes, but is not limited to, the following elements:
- Dual-row steel sheet piles installed via the press-in method on each side of the channel
- Deep soil-cement mix columns and a maintenance road constructed between the channel side sheet piles and land side sheet piles
- Channel widening by removing the resultant trapezoidal channel soil wedge, and;
- Water quality Best Management Practices (BMPs).
