In 1989, the Corps of Engineers estimated the costs of the Santa Ana River Project for each feature.
According to the Corps of Engineers, the Federal government will pay for about 61% of the total project cost; the local sponsors will pay about 39%.
The Corps of Engineers provides an estimate of the cost-share among the local sponsors based on the Corps estimate of the benefits of the Feature to each sponsor. These estimates shown on the above chart indicate that Orange County Flood Control District will pay 92% of the local sponsor's share of the Project.
